Black History Month

On Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, over 20 young people from Hillside performed alongside members of the Elders Hub, creating a powerful intergenerational showcase of culture, creativity, and community spirit.

Continuing the celebrations, we hosted our own Black History Month event at Harlesden Library on 31st October.

The day was alive with rhythm, colour, and joy. We had drummers, Mahogany carnival arts, steel pan, crafts, music, spoken word, and community talks.

It was inspiring to see everyone come together to celebrate and share in the joy of our heritage.

Groove in the Grove

Hosted by Hillside Performing Arts and DJ Stylah, Groove in the Grove was a lively intergenerational celebration of music, culture, and community.

The event welcomed Peperpot members, featured spoken word by Kamitan Arts, soulful performances by Princess Aisha, Nina Lee, and Dior, and dynamic sets from DJ Amore, DJ Jamo Beatz, DJ Stylah, and DJ Pink Haze, who proudly returned to the stage after beginning as a workshop attendee.

Community workshops encouraged creativity and growth, while Portobello Shack provided delicious Caribbean cuisine and Dream Experience captured unforgettable moments.

A powerful reminder of how the arts bring people together and inspire the next generation.

Summer Club 2025

Hillside Performing Arts ran a fun and creative Summer Club in 2015, bringing children and families together through activities and local trips to form friendships.

The club ended with small celebrations and family gatherings, giving children the chance to showcase what they had been working on.

We focused on wellbeing and provided balanced meals each day.

The summer club offered a safe and supportive space where children could learn and have fun during the holidays.

Move It

Hillside Performing Arts raised the roof this weekend with an electrifying performance at the world’s biggest dance event, held at the ExCeL Centre from March 7th-9th, 2025. As one of the only community exhibitors, its presence was undeniable, showcasing raw talent and energy. Based in Stonebridge, Brent, this North West London-based community interest organisation brought 20 young performers to the event, which attracted over 10,000 visitors from across the UK and beyond. Hillside Performing Arts stole the show, seamlessly blending street style with technical precision. “Hillside Performing Arts is committed to expanding opportunities and raising aspirations through the arts,” said Cherrelle, HPA’s Director. “As part of our enrichment program, we’ve been working to create new pathways for young performers.” HPA collaborated with TikTok Icy and Romeo Britain's Got Talent Semi finalists 2023 for an unforgettable performance, while the showstopper on Saturday featured the HPA children delivering an electrifying, high-energy routine. The performance, set to a mix by producer Jamobeatz, brought an undeniable energy to the theatre. The weekend was also captured by the Shaka and Tee Podcast, which featured exciting interviews and engaging banter. Adding to the event’s creative flair, dancer and entrepreneur Anime Boss designed the group’s costumes through his own clothing brand. By taking grassroots talent to center stage, Hillside Performing Arts continues to make a powerful impact, proving that community organisations can shine on the world’s biggest platforms.
